I am on H1B visa and my wife has filed N400. We have been married for 1 year and 2 months. she just gave her finger printing on June 10th. we have not yet filed I130 petition as of yet as we were thinking to do that after she gets her citizenship. But today I got laid off from work and the immigration officer mentioned that my wife should file I130 ASAP to avoid deportation. In form I30 On line Item 15 it says to enter the name and address of present employer. I got laid of from work on June 19 today and my wife is filing this I130 petition on Monday June 23. My termination letter indicates june 19th date. I will receive my last pay stub on July 3rd.
Should I put the name of the current employer on line 15 or should I say "unemployed" and explain in a seperate piece of paper about recent layoff? I will be out of status and will be inviting immigration if I mentioned that. Please help.

http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html seems to have a list of various studio strobes and their voltages.
Note that ISO 10330 specifies 24V, so ideally the camera ought to handle that much.
http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/index2.html#trigger have additional information. (including a link to Wein Safe-Sync HS which you can use in case you want to make absolutely sure your camera is safe)
As for E-TTL, with studio strobes you'll end up using a flashmeter. E-TTL does not factor into the equation.

i have birth certificate which is taken in 2005 but I was born in 1974
some of my friends are saying...as you are born in 1974 and as your
birth certificate was taken in yr 2005, it might cause problems (ins poseses query)
to get the green card.
Is it right?
They are saying me to get Affidivits + non availability certificate now.
will it be a problem if I put my birth certificate....while applying for 485
thanks

I think any non-H1 (including H4) stay wont count. You will have full 6 yrs on H1 visa.
Hi,
I am currently in L1B visa , i am in US for 40 Months. The total period that i can be in US in L1B is 5 yrs .
I am planning to do my H1B this year (2008), having already elapsed 40 months, if i get a H1B will the period elapsed ( 40 months in L1B) be accounted or i will get the H1b for 3 yrs.
Thanks

Overtime is paid only if you are a non-exempt employee - usually means you get paid hourly. If you are an exempt employee, then you are not eligible for overtime. Not sure if this is different in different states, but that is how it works in Ohio.
Same is true here in CA (Only non-exempt employees get overtime).
Again, check with your state agency regards to overtime pay..... or consult a employment attorney...

Employer needs to stop smoking weed and concentrate on work. Jokes apart there was no such proposal ever in pipeline so there is no way anything like this ever was approved. 6 year limit on H1 is a law that cannot be changed by admin process. It needs to pass house & senate. Also 6 year limit makes lot of people go back to home countries and uncle sam can consume their SS & Medicare taxes.

In my job search (banking and finance jobs) there is this one question i come across on each and every job application-
"Do you now or will you in the future require sponsorship to legally work in the united states?"
and options to tick on the form are 'yes' or 'no' with no space for explanation.
So i mark 'yes' and i guess thats where my job applications get stuck.
Should I answer yes or no, since i am on L2 (visa valid for next 2 years) and currently have 2 years Employment Authorisation (EAD) where i can work for any employer in the United States ?
I understand that companies ask this question because some of them are not allowed/ do not have a policy to sponsor visas.
I want to know whether i am legally required to say 'yes' because i am on L2 ( since after 2 years, my visa renewal depends on whether or not my spouse's L1 is renewed)
OR
Do I still have a choice to say 'no' since my visa renewal gets done if my husband's gets done or i manage it on my own through a consultant... and the company i will join in both cases does not have to sponsor or pay for my visa either now or in the future.
I do not want to misrepresent any information and get thrown out of the organisation after i join, nor do I want to lose out on opportunities because of answering this question wrongly.
Let me know please, it'll help a lot.

What happens when the laws of America clash with the laws of physics? In the Never-Never Land of Immigration, the natural laws of physics must defer to human-made law. This is the absurd answer of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Status (USCIS), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (CA5) in its Sept. 29 decision, Bokhari v. Holder. The case involves the interpretation of a USCIS regulation, 8 C.F.R. 274a.12(b)(20), which came into being because of the problems caused by bureaucratic delay. The regulation allows the automatic grant of work permission for up...

rajpatelemail,
U said it right, I dont know why IV admin/moderators keep allowing such abusive language in the IV forum.
IV forum is suppose to help legal immigrants dealing with different immigration related situations, instead now its turning into the forum where people started hatred.
IV admin please intervene and stop these kind of posting, which hurts IV's cause.

I don't think walking in with 485 receipt will work. Call USCIS 800 number and check the status of FP notice, if required open a service request. I'm a july 2 filer, did not receive notice till 10/10 - I called on 10/12 the CSR told me that my FP notice is schedule to be printed and waiting for an appointment with local ASC. In a week time, I received a FP notice, and gonna for FP end of this month. Hope this helps
Hi Saroj,
Thanks for the info. I have not got FP notice and it has been over 4 months from I-485 receipt date. Do you think ASC will entertain FP request if I just walk in with I-485 receipt?

You cannot travel and enter US with expired AP. Please renew your AP. Stamp on AP cannot make any difference as per my knowledge. You will have your I-94 also with same time stamp.
Hi All
My AP document expired in NOv 2008. I traveled to India and got back in Aug 2008. The officer stamped the document and wrote paroled until Aug 2009.
Can I travel on this document?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Thanks
