Of course it's for the protection of the public, but it's also not supposed to be a pleasant experience, it's supposed to suck. If you don't think that, i don't know what else to tell you, you're just too separated from reality at this point to turn back.
And you, on the other hand, are arguing that anything apart from death doesn't "suck" enough. If that's the case, why don't we return to beheading with a sword, or drawing and quartering? Surely the worst criminals "deserve" to die an excruciating, grisly death, just like their victims?

I suppose I should point out, as is inevitable, that gay men are barred from giving blood, at least in the United States.
So, while I can't participate, my best wishes to those who can. Thank you for your sacrifice!

Let me say this first, I hate Kobe Bryant. However, he can say whatever he wants. I have nothing against gays but who cares what he said. Yes it was on national TV so that does create a little problem but I think the thing is just blown up too big. He can say and think whatever he wants. I hate him though.

I've had my 5th gen. iPod video for about five years now, and it's treated me well; until last night. I was lying in bed listening to music, and I wanted to skip the song, so I pushed the forward button. Nothing happens. I try it again; the iPod freezes for about 20 seconds, then totally powers down, and makes a clicking noise (sounds like a drive maybe?).
Now, every time I turn the iPod on, I get the Apple logo, and it immediately goes to the "Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" screen, and after about 10 seconds, it powers off, again making the same whine/click noise. It's in a loop with this.
If I plug it into my computer, it doesn't read whatsoever; nothing on my desktop, nothing in iTunes, but the iPod itself goes to disk mode with a white screen and a "do not disconnect" sign. I cannot seem to get it out of disk mode, let alone get my computer to recognize it, so I can't restore it. I have a Macbook, and I've tried to restore it using other computers (several Windows systems) and it recognizes a "USB mass storage device", but doesn't appear in iTunes or anywhere else.
I've tried doing the manual reset, tried diagnostics mode, and to no avail. It's stuck in disk mode in a perpetual loop every time I turn it on, and NO computers will recognize it.
I have a really old 3GB iPod mini that I got years ago, so that's been my replacement for the past 24 hours— problem is, 3GB hardly compares to the 30GB that was on my iPod video; I can't even fit a quarter of my library on it. I'm kind of upset about it, I mean, I know that 5 years is quite awhile, but I've taken extremely good care of the device. It's been in a protective case ever since I got it, and I rarely drop it. I use it about every day. Any ideas on what I can do? To my understanding, if the hard drive has crashed, a sad iPod logo will appear, and that hasn't happened yet, so... who knows? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I don't really want to pay Apple to repair it because I may as well buy a new iPod (which I won't be able to do for quite awhile, broke college student here).

I'm thinking about going back to 4.0.1 and just staying there. The double vibration for texts is dumb, battery life now sucks (although this only happened with 4.3+), my 3GS is quite a bit slower than what it had been, and I am also getting "call failed" each time i try to dial out for the first time.
I don't expect my 3GS to work like an iPhone 4. But I don't see anything new that I've actually found myself using to warrant putting up with any of the above issues.

As mentioned above. Interested in purchasing an 8GB iPhone, does NOT have to be unlocked (I'm AT&T) and would prefer it not since people seem to believe that running a program for 10 minutes makes it worth $150 on top :).

They could be moving to once a year release for AT&T and Verizon, pushing AT&T's release to January.

I think there should be firm standards for capital punishment. There are certain cases where someone is guilty without a doubt. The connecticut incident, arizona killer, etc. There are many cases where the death penalty is appropriate. If it's a crime with no witnesses but a lot of solid proof, the sentence should be life in prison. See, there's ways around all these "whats ifs"
It isn't just a matter of whether the person is guilty. Killing is wrong. In order for a society to set the proper example it should be forbidden, and any killing should be seen as the extreme exception to the rule, to be done only in the immediate defense of life. Capital punishment violates that principle in my opinion.
Apart from all that are the further reasons I listed above. And against all this your only argument is that they "deserve" "lynching"? That's raving.

If Apple wasn't doing something creepy for advertising purposes, they were at least thinking about it.

Google's slogan is what, "Don't be evil?" They don't always succeed. I'd suggest one thing to Apple "Don't be Google."
Well, it looks like it wasn't a bug after all. It was coded as per the patent application. :D
