Hello everyone,
My driver's license has come up for renewal in Feb 2009. I have 2 yrs EAD.I have send my H1 for renewal but it has not got yet approved..
My employer suggessted that I use my EAD card to get my license renewed. In Ideal case I would like to use my approved H1 to renew my license. However since its taking time for my H1 renewal can I use my EAD card to get my license renewed.

Is university h1 the same as non-proft cap exempt h1 or is it different ?
Its the same as a university comes under "Higher Education".

Well, my forms were returned to my attorney because of some filing issue. So instead of my EAD as I was expecting I have to refile. Of course I now have a job offer that I would like to take.
My husband (who is a US citizen) is in school and will be depending on my salary. I dont know if that counts as a big financial loss.
Where can I go to find this out. I think my attorney i doing a less than great job in giving me the proper options to choose from.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks frostrated. When I said CPT I actually meant STEM Extension (17 month). Anyways, if I don't find employment before my OPT expires, can I go to back to school without an issue? I think I should be okay but I just wanted to make sure. I would appreciate it if I got any input on this matter. I need to double check myself to make sure I'm on a legal status

I want to transfer from H1B to F1.I came to US as a F1 and graduated in march 08.I got my H1B on oct 08.But now i want to transfer to F1 again and i had my visa till 2011. I had following doubts and please help me.
1) I heard that i can transfer to F1 from H1B without canceling(but deactivating H1B) is it true.
2) How much time does it take if i apply for change of status for F1?
3)can i take cpt in F1 and later on can i change to H1 by applying change of status?

Is this NEW employer or same employer .
If NEW employer ,then u can apply for new H1B petition but cannot ask for extension of stay .
Extension of stay is for someone who is already in USA on H1B status .

I believe it is a bad thing that the loan from Indian banks does not show up on US credit reports. Also people should disclose what all current loan payments they are making before they can take up a new loan. Otherwise it would be lying.

You are spot on. I did spoke to some folks and every body said the same thing, you cannot bring the kid in this country unless the priority date becomes current. That could be long time the way things are moving....
Hence we are stuck almost same situation as you guys are....
Anybody who can give us any other alternative that would be great...

I moved to a new company and yet to receive my I-797 approved from INS. My old company visa is valid till May 2010. If they have not revoked it can i still travel out of country and come back?
You should not return showing just the old visa and approval notice for Company A. That would be misrepresenting to CBP that you were still working for Co. A. You need to show the receipt for Co. B's filing to show that you are working for them using portability (I assume you are)

I have mis-placed my EAD. Normally I can just apply for another EAD. But, I will be travelling to India in Mid March on Advance Parole and I'm not sure if I'll get the EAD by then.
My question is, will they ask for EAD upon re-entry.
I am thinking of applying for EAD after coming back. Is there any special processing for applying for a lost EAD ?
Any advice is appreciated.
EAD is not needed while entering on AP. 485 receipt notice is sufficient documentation while entering on AP.

It is not clear to me why there is inconsistency on whatever they reply for the processing of NSC-->CSC-->NSC cases. Sometime I hear NSC mentions that these transfer cases would be processed based on CSC processing date (which doen't make sense because CSC stopped processing of I-485 caes, so how CSC processing date would move and the transferred case is waiting in NSC not in CSC) and sometime I hear NSC mentions those cases would be processed based on NSC processing date. Which one is actually true ?
I am wondering so far have we seen any approval from NSC for NSC-->CSC-->NSC transferred cases whose processing date RD/ND falls in 2007 (after the 2006 processing date of CSC).
